Xanthates, such
as the ones manufactured at Prospec Chemicals,
are the most commonly used sulfide collectors in the mining industry today.
A list of these can be found below.
The strength of our Xanthates is based on the alcohol chain attached
to the Xanthate molecule with ethyl (2-carbons) being the weakest
and amyl (5-carbons) being the strongest. KAX 20, Potassium
Ethyl Xanthate, is very selective in nature while KAX 55,
Potassium N-Amyl Xanthate, is a non-selective collector.
Available in pellet or powder form, but also liquid to customers
with close proximity to our plant at Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta,
Canada, our Xanthates are shipped in a varity of packaging from
155 kg open top drums to 500, 750 and 1000 kg Super Sacs.
Prospec Chemicals also offers Flexanthates, developed
by TRTA. These are Xanthates enhanced with a proprietary
surfactant to improve the attachment efficiency of the Xanthate
molecules onto the sulfide surfaces.
